Local Gulf Coast Legend Bert Wills dropped by Katie's this night to put on a really spectacular show. Bert has been active musically in the Gulf Coast since the late 60s. His band, Bert Wills and the Cryin' Shames was one of the most popular acts around for many years. Texas guitar legend Bert Wills got his start playing waterfront bars from Galveston to Kemah. Guitarist, singer and songwriter Bert Wills has referred to himself in song as a rambler on a lonesome highway, an outsider looking in, a prisoner and many other things of rich metaphorical value. His show this night at Katie's was a lot of fun as Bert brought his one-man show to the club there. Bert performed many of his old standards as well as a few covers and the audience there loved it. So did we. The show was great! We've got a video from this show to share with you right now, so if you tune into Houstonmusicnewstv1 on YouTube, you can start watching it now.

Icons at Badassery

by James Lamb Remy

This month Icons At Badassery would like to honor "The Dope Show," a tribute to Marilyn Manson. Original members from local Houston include ERASE THE VIRUS's Alex Slay(drums), Mangy James(bass), Jeff Smith(guitar), and Eddie Epoc (keyboards). They started The Dope Show as a way to not only celebrate the music of Marilyn Manson, but to give fans of Marilyn Manson easier access to an exhilarating and incredible live show of the likes they haven't seen. They added former Zombie Face frontman singer Kevin Leazot to finish the lineup. The band has done some very big things and continues to do so. They have been playing to large crowds at places such as the House Of Blues Houston & Dallas, and White Oak Music Hall, as well as playing multiple venues in and around Texas. They are continually looking to expand their performance base. Their performances will leave you in awe and wanting more! Keep your eyes peeled for The Dope Show. You won't want to miss it! The Dope Show Rocked out Scout Bar on Oct 31st, Houston, TX. One of their upcoming shows is Cine El Ray theatre on Jan 11th in McAllen TX. Their website is http://m.me/THEDOPESHOWTX. It is with great honor to entitle The Dope Show Icons At Badassery! Thank you for your hard work.

This month Icons At Badassery would also like to honor the local music scene's own "Khris Harding! Born and raised in Houston, Tx, Khris has been in the music industry for over16 years. He began with Thomas Wilson and The Scout Bar. Khris started as a bouncer, then moved up the ladder to stage manger and public relations and is still rocking it there. He was also stage manager for the Houston Zombie Walk a few years back, and handled booking and running the stage for the 501 charity group. Khris started working with Jason DuPuis and Chris Calderas from Punkstarindustries.com about 7 years ago, booking bands for their local show, to even promoting their clothing line. They did an interview with local Live Houston for an event, and quickly caught the urge to have there own local show. The Punkstar Full Throttle was born. Khris was there at the time it had started and was doing body suspension with a group called AGRO. After a short time Khris was brought on by Jason and Kristen of the show Punkstar Full Throttle to do an interview on body suspension for the community. Shortly after that time he was running a group called Agro Sideshow, and doing live performances around the area as well as in a few shows out of town along with bands. Khris was added as a full-time radio host for Punkstar Full Throttle. Moving the show to Scout Bar, Khris had full control of stage, lights, and sound. Thomas gave Punkstar every Wednesday to showcase local talent. Khris has been there now for over 6 years doing the show. His endeavors had got him to M/C local shows at BFE, Acadia, Scout Bar, Fitzgerald's, Numbers, Spire, and most venues in Houston area. This past year he started working with his mentor, Outlaw Dave from 9:50 AM - KPRC, Houston's oldest radio station, where Khris is on his show two to three times a week at different venues around town. Now, Dave and Khris have a residency at The Wildcatter Saloon, with Outlaw Dave working with John J Janatsch and Second Chance Productions, which Khris has been a part of for almost 2 years. Khris is sponsored by Junker Designs, Kemah Shot Bar, The Outlaw Dave Show, Embassy Skateboards. Khris is also hosting an event at this year's Lone Star Rally and four days at the Galveston Shop Bar.
