Music News is looking for writers, columnists, and sales staff! Music News is looking for a music writer to assist with the current workload of interviews, concert previews/reviews and street scene. Our publication is looking for writers with good connections and relationships within the Music, Food, and/or Art communities to write articles and/or a monthly column showcasing local, regional and national events, people, and projects. The ideal candidate would also have the ability to take good photographs with your camera or cell phone, and have a clear, concise writing style. Music News is also looking for sales staff. Freezerburn Perform at the Nose Dive Bar

We dropped by The Nose Dive Bar to check out the music on their back patio this night. On stage was the band Freezerburn. This cool band was performing what I would interpret as a "Free Improvised Jam" and they were doing a damn good job at it. It was pretty cool. The Nose Dive is a great little bar that just opened up on Greens Road and features 'Live Music' every Saturday Night. Check out their ad in this issue to see who's going to be there this month. We're sure you'll be finding someone performing there you'll want to se.

The Nose Dave Bar is a bar up on the North side of town at 2315 Greens Road. They are now booking live entertainment! Call 843-991-9436 for details. Scout Bar is the most popular club in the Clear Lake area that has national acts as well as up-and-coming artists featured on their state-of-the-art stage with an amazing sound system. They are located at 18307 Egret Bay Blvd. Here's what's playing there this month. Schism ­ Tool tribute from NYC played on August 3rd. A live radio broadcast featuring the music from Full Throttle. K,O, aka Mr. U Can't Handle Me and more. Don't miss awesome Black Sabbath (and only) parody Mac Sabbath back at Scout for their American Cheese tour 2019 with special guests on Sat. Aug. 10th. The Spazmatics will hit the stage on the 16th. Two very good local bands, Asleep in the Wake and Driven With Insanity are there Sat. Aug. 17th. Punkstar Full Throttle is a showcase that is a live music and radio broadcast with different bands on Wednesday nights.

Pub Level Grill & Lounge is upstairs from Scout Bar. They have over 50 draft beers, tasty food, a huge video wall, and several TV's located around the bar for sports games, including Astros. New Clear Weapon Perform at The Jailhouse Saloon

When we heard that New Clear Weapon was going to be performing at The Jailhouse Saloon, we dropped by to see them. We've seen them before and had a great time at their show, so we figured 'why not do it again' and we're sure glad we did. This great band really puts on a good show. They've got a great repertoire and perform a lot of songs we really like. This is really a good local band from Humble Texas. Their music style range from rock to funk and soul. Jailhouse Saloon is located in Spring, Texas. They have a lot going on in the month of August. Every Wednesday is Open Jam hosted by William Ward. Every Thursday is Krazy Karachi with Nancy and on Friday nights you can enjoy a friendly Poker Night with Kathy. There is an Open Jam on Sundays with Letric Ed & Friends. You can also enjoy some great band. This month you can see James Henry Band playing on Saturday, August 3rd. On the 9th John Garraza Project with perform and on the 10th Rainchild will hit the stage. Reverb Cartel will be playing on August 23rd followed by Double Shot Band playing the 24th. Friday, August 30th features The Eskimo Brothers and Shovelhead Runway with special guest will be there on the 31st.

The concerts continue at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion! Takin' it old school is Hammer's House Party featuring MC Hammer, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Doug E. Fresh, and Kid N Play on Sat. Aug. 3rd. And if rock is more your thing, then come see Heart with Joan Jett and Elle King Thurs. Aug. 22nd. Then a heavier sound with Smashing Pumpkins and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds Sun. Aug. 25th. Radio Duran Perform at The Concert Pub North

The sounds of Duran Duran Filled The Concert Pub North this night as the Duran Duran Tribute Band, Radio Duran took over the stage. The place was filled with Duran Duran fans this night and the crowd just loved what the band was doing. Radio Duran is Houston's only Duran Duran 'tribute band'. Tonight they really brought an exciting show to The Concert Pub North, really capturing the sound and feel of these 80s sensations. They just performed one great Duran Duran hit after another. It really made for a great night of entertainment.

The Concert Pub-North has the best concerts on the Northside! Not only do they have TV's for all the sports action, great drink specials and a full menu; they also have awesome live rock music, including the best tribute acts around. Scorpions tribute Big City Nights and Santana tribute La Raza Connection are there Sat. Aug. 3rd. Then party rock band Texas TNT are there the next weekend, Sat. Aug. 10th at 4pm with a motorcycle meet-up, followed by Alaniz, a tribute to Alanis Morissette at 9:30pm. Then Queensryche tribute Mindcrime with All Hallows Eve, a tribute to Type O Negative Sat. Joel's Garage Band Perform at The 19th Hole

Hey look, It's Joel's Garage Band performing at The 19th Hole, up in The Woodlands. Here's a great new cover band that we ran into this night. This cool six piece outfit was really cranking out the "Classic Rock" tunes to the max, and they really sounded good. They performed songs from The Doors ("Roadhouse Blues"), The Clash ("Should I Stay Or Should I Go"), Lynyrd Skynyrd ("Sweet Home Alabama"), The Spencer Davis Group ("Gimme Some Lovin'"), and even Robert Johnson ("Sweet Home Chicago"). They were really a lot of fun. With six performers you get a lot of variety and it really was refreshing. Here's another great find that you need to check out sometime. A Roomful of Jason's at The BFE Rock Club

Tonight at The BFE Rock Club it was filled aith a roomful of Jason's as Ari Lehman brought his band, First Jason, in for a special performance there. That's Ari up there front and center. The folks there just raved about his performance. Evidently the show was quite impressive. There was also appearances there by a couple of more Jason's pictured 2nd and 4th from the left in this picture. Also pictured here is Frankie Aluotto (far left) and The BFE's own resident Jason in the 4th spot.

Series Six Has Their Reunion Gig at The BFE Rock Club

We're at The BFE Rock Club tonight for the Series Six reunion. I started watching these guys perform when they were just kids. Since then, they've grown up and eventually gone their own ways. You all probably know Nick Dees from the band. He's gone on to make himself a name with the band Hold On Hollywood. At any rate, it was great seeing them up on stage again performing some of their old songs. There was a real good turnout for the show, as the band did develop quite a following when they were originally together. Yeah, It definitely was a lot of fun and we're glad we were there. For those of you who were there, here's a taste of what we got to experience that night. For those of you who didn't attend, here's a test of what you lost out on... sorry. Fal Skye Perform at The Pub Fountains

This high energy top 40 cover band keep the crowd a dancin' the whole time we were there. It was quite an impressive show. This band performs a little of everythig from Funk to Reggae to Rock and they even are capable of throwing a little Hip-Hop in. Tonight their rendition of Sublime's "Santeria" was extraordinary. They really put on a great show. Get out there and see this band, and make sure you put the Pub Fountains on your list of places to go. There's always a party going on at The Pub Fountains.

He has one of the tastiest guitar sounds around and years of talent to bring it to a fine edge. Tonight it was just what we expected... a lot of great music. From Steely Dan to Santana, Paul kept the tunes a comin'. His rendition of "Oye Como Va" by Santana was fantastic. Besides headlining his own shows, Paul has also opened for The Allman Brothers, Widespread Panic, Marshall Tucker Band, Blue Oyster Cult, Dick Dale, Ian Moore, Chris Duarte, Papa Grows Funk, Monte Montgomery, George Porter Jr., Los Lonely Boys, Los Lobos, and Ray Wylie Hubbard. Let me tell you, this guy has been around. His show tonight at Cruiser's was a veritable 'tour de force'. The show tonight was fine and a lot of fun. Can't wait to see him again. This local biker bar NEVER has a cover for live bands they have playing there, like On August 3rd you can see Paul Ramirez. The Feel will play on Sat. Tonight we dropped by The Ashford Pub for their Open Mic Singer/Songwriter night and on stage was local singer/songwriter O.W. Walkker. O.W. has quite a few really good songs. Out favorites this night wer "Bajo El Sol," and "Too Good." Great show O.W., we had a great time listening to you.

Ashford Pub is located at 13308 Westheimer and has cold drinks, and sometimes live music. Also, Big Azz Beer & Trivia Night is Tuesdays, Steak & Poker Night is Wednesdays, then Wild West Texas Beer Fest PLUS karaoke is on Fridays, and Poker Night Sundays. Loaded Barrels

Tonight we were in the mood for some Country Music, so when we heard that Leslie Doaks was performing at Loaded Barrels on FM 1960, we headed over there to fill our Country appetite. Leslie and the guys were doning a really great job performing one fine Country hit after another, including songs like George Strait's "Amarillo By Morning" and Eddie Rabbit's "Driving My Life Away," but the hit of the evening for us was when they broke into a little Southern Rock with Lynyrrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama." This band really know how to deliver the goods when it come to Country Music. Check them out sometime, and be sure to drop by Loaded Barrels. They bring in great bands every month performing Rock, Country, Blues, and a little of everything.

Loaded Barrels is on the North side of Houston, at 9558 FM 1960 West. This full-service bar and grill has beer, wine, liquor, and a food menu. This refurbished bar also has pool tables, foosball, darts, and machine games, and TV's. Wednesdays have an open mic, and there's karaoke on Thursdays! There's just as much live music this month as last month like LGM Trio on August 3rd. Mandi Powell plays on Fri. Aug. 9th then Big Jordan Band will play on the 10th. Freddie Pate Performs at Katie's Bar in Bailiff

Tonight at Katie's Bar in Bacliff was sure a lot of fun. Performing here this night was Freddie Pate. Freddie has been around for quite a while now. For many years, Freddie was a member of Wayne Toups and Zydecajun. He played on several album projects and toured with them as well. Before that he could be found playing with some of the best musicians in town in just about every honky tonk in town. Including Gilley's, the Western Club, The Western Swing, Dancetown and many more. Opening for some great acts, Ronnie Misap, Willie Nelson, Johnny Rodriguez, Eddie Rabbit, Alabama, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, David Alan Coe, George Jones, Conway Twitty, Ray Price and countless others. He's really had quite a distinguished career, so when we get a chance to see a pro like this perform, it's really a treat. Tonight's show at Katie's Bar was just that, a treat. Tonight Freddie was at the top of his game and the licks just got tastier and tastier as he performed some great blues tunes for the audience there. Applause and screams followed every song, and the audience just loved every minute of his performances, as well as us. I can't wait to see him again. You really need to put Katie's Bar and Freddie Pate on your list and the next time he performs there, go out and see him for yourself. I'm sure you'll be amazed. Katie's Bar no doubt has some of the best live music in the Bay Area. Live music 5 days a week WITHOUT a cover. Sparky Parker will perform on August 2nd and Van Wilks will be there on the 3rd. On the 9th be sure and check out Urich Ellison & Tribe and then on the 10th you can see No Refund Band. Annika Chambers will play on the 16th followed by Steve Krase Band on the 17th. Classix plays on Thurs. Aug. 22nd, and on the 28th Bert Wills will be there. Jay Hooks performs on the 29th and Alan Hayes will play on the 30th. Vince Converse will be there on Aug. 31st. The Blues Jam on Sundays from 4pm-8pm is going strong, and all musicians are invited to jam. A different musician hosts each week, like this month, Paul Ramirez, Live Mojo, Ricky Jackson, and Mark May. Katie's is located at 315 Grand Ave. in the old Bacliff post office. Shenanigan's in Texas City has been around over 30 years. They're open everyday, and have pool, darts, and big screen TV's. Ladies' Night is Wednesday, and karaoke Thursday nights from 9pm-1am!
